Kotor is a city in Montenegro that is a quite a bit off of the Mediterranean. What looks to be a fjords is actually a river canyon. Fjords are caused by receding glaciers and this is not the case here. It took the pilot quite a while to maneuver into this area. This was a tender port as there was not an area deep enough to handle a ship this size near the port.

The captain informed us early that tendering would be difficult because of the wind. We experienced that on our trip to Easter Island but this looked very calm compared to that. The captain moved the ship to a different area to try and get into calmer seas. 50 crew members from the Philippines were waiting to tender and board. There was also one ill crew member waiting to go ashore. The Captain soon came on with another message. He would send out one tender for the passenger and pick up the crew. All other tendering was cancelled for the day. That meant we were not going ashore.
The cruise director began to scramble to find activities for all those aboard. We ending up playing team trivia. We invited some nice young ladies from the Netherlands to join us. They could surely help us. They kept telling us that they didn’t know anything but I was sure they could help. We faired ok in the general knowledge question. There was a question about the four countries of the Kingdom of Netherlands that the girls answered. We didn’t have a clue. We missed the number of countries that have Italian as an official language. It was 4. Music was out best category and we all contributed. Name the tune and the artist. I happened to nail the Peaches and Herb tune “Reunited”. Terri knew the tune “Small Town”. We couldn’t come up with the artist. I was able to get John. Mellencamp just did not surface. Movie clips were played and we had to name the movie. Quite poor here. Overall we scored a 27. The high scoring team was a 34.
We spent the afternoon on the promenade deck. The ship was crawling. We aren’t that far from our final port and we left hours early then planned.
Dinner and more cards. I am still in the lead 4 -3.
Tomorrow is a day at sea and we have a very early disembark time on Monday morning. Our flight out of Venice is 1 pm local time and we arrive home Monday night about 9 pm.
We are returning to the sea later this year with a trip around the continent of Africa. Hope you will join us.…
