Wawel Castle

Yesterday we found a gym to join yesterday and a laundromat. Both were in easy walking distance.

We started at the gym today. Quite a bit smaller than LA fitness but sufficient for us to use. Weird little rule about shoes. Along the route up the stairs there were signs to wipe your shoes. Once in the gym you were take them off and leave them by the front door. It is beyond making no sense. I can only think this was started during the pandemic and continues today. Maybe foot and mouth disease is an issue here?

We did our workout and then had lunch. Wawel Castle was on the agenda today. Wawel Castle is the most culturally significant point in all of Poland. It was built in the 13 and 14th century. Today it is an art museum visited by up to 3.4 million people per year.

There is so much to see that one would have to come back many times to see it all.

  1. The requirement to remove shoes reminds me of residences and other specific buildings in Korea and Japan. Perhaps the facility is just trying to keep the floor clean.

    1. Good point but in Japan, the shoes remain off. At this gym, you simply put another pair on in the lobby. Clean is a good thing but I’m not sure it is making an impact.
