Historic Krakow Churches

Staying relatively one location for 30 days has many advantages. Krakow is home as we negotiate side trips each week. There is no rush to see any one thing and we can concentrate on living like a local. Of course one has to be able to take off work or be retired. Be careful with the retirement part. It’s easy to push off doing things like this and then find out you aren’t actually healthy enough to do it. Younger is better. There are many things that we have already done that we wouldn’t attempt now.

Today we decided to take a walking tour of the most famous historic churches in Krakow. It is hard for me to not think of how poor the parishioners were when these were being built. Lots of gold, lots of art work, lots of money.

We decided to have dinner in a restaurant. Heritage and Hip was the restaurant name. Highly rated. Not a soul in there at 5 pm. Great dinner. I had pierogi of course and Terri the lamb.

On the way back to the apartment we stopped for a chimney cone. Donut like cone filled with soft serve ice cream and other things of your choosing. Mine had strawberries and Terri’s peanut butter cups. It fueled us at least halfway back.

  1. What a perfect Father’s Day! You planned this trip with much thought being a local is the best. You are living the life. Seeing all the pictures makes one think of how different life is today and appreciate history.
Have not been to the Polish Village Cafe for ages perhaps a trip to Hamtramck is needed.
    Enjoy.
