Train to Budapest

Our train leaves for Budapest at 9 pm. Today will be a no sight seeing day as thunderstorms abound.

We did hit the gym in the morning and then packed. Not much to pack. It is hot out and t shirts and shorts is all that we need.

We did do a few walks in between heavy thunderstorms. After dinner we decided to walk down to the train station early. There was a weather break but the sky was threatening again.

It was 20 minute walk to the station and then we sat in the mall for about an hour. Lots of people shopping. What a nice thing to see.

We finished people watching and took an elevator up to our platform. A women behind me must have heard me talking English and she ask if we were going to Prague. I told her we were going to Budapest. She had a look of concern. Maybe fear. We at on some benches and waited on Platform 3, track 2. This woman approached me again and asked my train number and then carriage number. She was scheduled on the same train but a different carriage. Do you think they split the train up into two different directions at some point?, she asked. I told that I remember that international trains can be a mix of cars. I don’t think she felt any better. The train was scheduled to leave in less than 10 minutes and there were few people on the platform. I knew that the train was making 18 stops on its way to Budapest and people would be getting on at every stop.

The train pulled up and we boarded. Our room was already for sleeping. A bunk bed setup with a mirror and a sink. Not quite what I remember from the James Bond movies but very nice.

We left right on time. I hoped that the attendant who checks tickets would come early and he did. Soon I was out. We arrive in Budapest at 8:30 am. Hoping for a nice quiet night.
