Galicia Jewish Museum

Galicia was an area in Central Europe. Krakow was on the far western end. It is more often easier to learn about cities than the states they are in. Borders have changed so many times or the past few centuries. Poland experienced a 123 yr period where it did not even exist.

Today we went to the Galicia Museum which is in the old Jewish section of Krakow. Pictures and text show and explain what life was like in the area before Poland was invaded in 1939 and the Jews were removed and slaughtered. It was a 2 mile walk and the weather app said that there was an orange thunderstorm warning. We can always uber back we thought. We stopped at a flea market before hand but it was already 2 pm and it was closing up.

The museum was in a building that was used as the Gestapo HQ during the occupation. The museum was good. Lots to learn. The history here is different than what we learn at home. Isn’t history the same everywhere?

It started to rain while we were in the museum. Loud thunderstorm. We finished up and decided to call for a ride.

Tomorrow we are off to Budapest. We leave in the evening and travel overnight. First time on an overnight train. Should be fascinating.
