We had a tour this morning with very explicit instructions sent to us multiple times. Arrive between 9:15 and 9:30 am, look for someone holding a sign. Tour starts at 9:45. If you show up after 9:30 you miss the tour. In other words, be on time.
The tour was about an hour. It was already warm and I was sweating on the tour. The building took 17 years to build, has over 700 rooms and has a central heating and cooling building built close by. Steam heat in the winter and blocks of ice carved from the river in the summer. I’m not sure that system is still being used.
The parliament is still used daily. We were able to see just small portion of it. Check out the brass cigar holders on the window ledge!
We finished the tour and it was blazing hot. We already checked out of our hotel and they were holding our luggage. It wasn’t going to be a nice day to do more walking. Clear sky and hot. We decided to hang out at the West End Mall near the train station. Another multi floor mall that was packed with people. Thursday afternoon? How about work?
We had lunch and later decided to go back to the hotel and grab our luggage, come back and have dinner. That worked out well and after dinner we walked over to the train station. The train left on time and we were heading back to Krakow.
